Best of Web #3

best of webNow it goes into the third round of Best of Web (#BoW). Every Monday, as promised, I post a few of my favorite internet finds. This week I’m a little late, but Monday just prior to 23:00 clock  still Monday. (So I’ve reached my own goal again this week.)
Today there are some links about hardware and software hacks, IE toolbar programming and WordPress speed optimization. Also featuring: A infographic for nerds, the answer to the question “How to cluster a handful of Raspberry Pis?” and a short video to your general amusement. Let’s go!
Use the Raspberry Pi as Babel Fish
Ok, it’s not a real Babel fish, but Dave Conroy’s Raspberry Pi project is getting close to Douglas Adams Babelfish. He has “taught” the Raspberry Pi to translate between a lot of languages using various online […]

Best of Web #2

best of webIt is once again Monday and as I explained to you last week, that is from now on my “Best of Web”-day. That means on every Monday I will post an article with my personal finds from the internet – just the “Best of Web”.
Whoever has missed the first roundup, can find it right over here. By the way – I would really love it to get an email or comment from you, if you have suggestions and recommendations for the upcoming roundup.
Otherwise, if you have no more questions, it’s now going on with “Best of Web”- round 2. This week with some nice infographics, a C# do-it-better blog and some tutorials.

For a current web project I was looking for a way to display messages/notifications to the visitors of the website. Actually there are hundreds of guides […]

Best of Web #1

best of webHere we go. Starting from today, I’m trying again on something new here on the blog. Under the name “Best of Web” I want to share, from now on, every Monday, my network finds from the last 7 days with you.
The whole thing runs deliberately not under the title “My 5 favorite links” or “Favorite links of calender week 31” because I won’t tie myself down neither on the number of recommendations per week nor that I actually post something on every Monday. Although a weekly rhythm is planned, but before I share poor / substandard content (out of necessity) with you, I pause the roundup for one week and come back with a handful of good quality links in the next. So, enough of introductory words. Here we go with the first “Best of Web” roundup.

Hundreds of […]

How to add multiple free images to your eBay auction

ebay_logoToday it is about eBay. Specifically, about how you can add as many pictures as you like into your auction description for free. So there will be no additional costs, such as it would normally be the case, when you use the image features of eBay. Thankfully eBay gives us almost everything that is needed to add free images to our auctions.
To better explain the procedure, I created a fictitious offer on Ebay. Who does not like to read, of course, can also scroll to the end of the article and watch the whole explanation as screencast. And here’s how it works:
Step 1:

After you have entered the basic information and […]

650.000 free icons, vector graphics and stocks

IconfinderToday I want to introduce to you three websites that I use for my programs as well as for my work here on the blog frequently. Have you guessed what it is? No? It comes to icons. Such as they are in almost every beginning of my blog articles.
I got all these icons more or less from three portals on the net. Of course completely legally and free of charge. And how that goes, I do not hide from you.
The three sites at issue are the following:

www.iconarchive.com
www.iconfinder.com
www.findicons.com

All three sites are built up similar. They not only offer you a total of over 650,000 different icons, but beyond this, also the possibility to sort the icons by their type of license.  This allows you for example to search only for icons which […]
